Overview
Tungsten Spheres are spherical parts made of metal powders such as tungsten carbide and cobalt through a powder metallurgy process, which have high hardness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and high temperature stability, and are widely used in precision bearings, valve seals, grinding media, and extreme working conditions, and is an ideal choice for replacing traditional steel balls.
As a supplier with more than 20 years of professional experience, we can not only provide customers with standardized and customized metal balls, but also provide bars, plates, tubes, and other special-shaped machined parts made of non-ferrous metals. Tungsten Carbide Material Properties
- The ultimate hardness and wear resistance are better than stainless steel balls, and can withstand the high-speed scouring of multiphase particle media such as water and coal slurry, coal powder, and silicon powder.
- Excellent chemical stability: It has excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, salts, and organic solvents, and can resist the erosion of highly corrosive substances such as hydrogen sulfide and chloride ions in oil drilling.
- Extreme temperature adaptability, low thermal expansion coefficient, cannot only work in a high temperature environment of 750 °C for a long time, but also in a cryogenic environment, and will not cause performance attenuation due to low temperature embrittlement.
- Good impact toughness, can resist vibration caused by fluid pressure fluctuations, and prevent fracture and glass chip chipping.
- The spherical structure realizes two-way sealing, which is suitable for the working conditions of frequent switching of medium flow direction, and the sealing performance is not affected by pressure fluctuations.

Application
- Precision bearings: Tungsten carbide spheres are used in aviation, machine tools, medical equipment, etc., for high-speed, high-precision bearings, wear-resistant and long-lasting.
- Valve spool: As the spool of petroleum, chemical, and high-pressure ball valves, the tungsten sphere is resistant to high pressure and corrosion, and provides reliable sealing.
- Metrology and measurement: used as a calibration reference ball for precision instruments, such as coordinates and roundness meters, to ensure measurement accuracy.
- Grinding and polishing: Polished tungsten spheres are used as ball grinding media and polishing beads for superfine grinding of sapphire, ceramics, semiconductors, and other materials.
- Ball screw: Equipped with a high-precision ball screw, improve the positioning and transmission accuracy of CNC machine tools and precision equipment.
- Mechanical molds: Pure tungsten spheres are used for punching, cold heading, drawing, and other mold components, with high hardness, and are not easy to deform.
- Medical devices: used in minimally invasive surgical instruments, artificial joints, high-pressure syringes, etc., with good biocompatibility and wear resistance.
- Electronic semiconductors: used in hard disks, probes, precision contacts, etc., with stable dimensions and conductive wear resistance.
Processing
(1) Weigh 92% tungsten carbide (WC) powder and 8% cobalt (Co) powder in strict accordance with the chemical composition ratio of YG8. The purity of raw materials is extremely high, and impurity content must be controlled below 0.01%.
(2) Put the prepared powder into the ball mill, add solvents such as alcohol and molding agents (such as paraffin wax or rubber) for long-term high-energy ball milling.
(3) The granulated powder is loaded into a highly elastic rubber mold and placed in a high-pressure container for cold isostatic forming processing.
(4) The pressed blank balls are put into a vacuum sintering furnace and sintered at a high temperature of 1400-1500°C to form a dense carbide body.
(5) Rough or fine grinding is carried out to correct the roundness of the sphere, reduce surface roughness, and accurately control the diameter tolerance.
(6) Mirror polishing of the sphere surface to ensure a final surface roughness of Ra 0.05μm or even lower, ensuring zero leakage and low friction in valve or bearing applications.
(7) Strict quality inspection to ensure qualified factory delivery, such as dimensional accuracy measurement, visual inspection, mechanical property testing, chemical composition analysis, etc.
